Is a known gap the total cost of my surgery?
No. It relates to the surgeon’s fee where an eligible arrangement applies. Hospital charges, policy excess, anaesthetist fees, consultation fees and other providers’ costs may be separate.
When can I receive a written estimate?
The proposed treatment and your circumstances need to be established first. Our rooms can explain when the surgeon’s written fee information will be available and what estimates to seek from other providers.
What if I do not have private hospital cover?
Contact our rooms about your circumstances. A personalised estimate may be needed, including information about costs from the hospital, anaesthetist and any other providers involved.
What should I ask my health fund?
Ask whether your proposed treatment is covered, whether any waiting periods or exclusions apply, and what excess or co-payment you may have. You can also ask which hospitals and providers are included under your policy.
Can I take time to decide?
Yes. You can discuss the proposed treatment and expected fees, ask questions and consider your options before deciding whether to proceed.
